Expo 2020 Dubai Opens the Doors to a New Future

After a year-long delay, the Expo 2020 Dubai opening ceremony was quite the spectacle!

All eyes were on Dubai as the world was invited to witness the lavish ceremony filled with breathtaking interiors, headlining acts, fireworks and the power of global collaboration. It truly was a momentous occasion as the whole world had finally been able to come together, after travel for the past 18 months was severely affected.

It’s exciting to see what will become the legacy of the next six months, but for now…

1. ‘This Is Our Time’ Song: Almas, Hussain Al Jassmi and Mayssa Karaa

Expo’s official song is led by Hussain Al Jassmi, one of the UAE’s biggest artists and Expo 2020 Ambassador, accompanied by 21-year-old Emirati singer-songwriter Almas, named in Spotify’s Best Female Talent in the Middle East. In addition to them as well was Lebanese-American singer-songwriter Mayssa Karaa, who is also the Artistic Director of Expo’s all-female Firdaus Orchestra.

2. H.E. Sheikh Nahayan Bin Mubarak Al Nahayan’s speech

3. Spectactular performance from Platinum-Selling British singer-songwriter Ellie Goulding

Ellie Goulding wowed us all with her amazing performance just five months after giving birth to her son Arthur!

5. Ahlam

Emirati singer Ahlam, proved herself to be the epitome of Arab extravagance as usual when welcoming people from all over the world to Expo 2020. This was also the first time the star sang in English!
